Everyone already knows that coconuts are delicious and that coconut oil is an awesome oil for cooking but did you know it has a bunch of other uses you never thought of? Don’t let your mouth water too much we’re going to get into some alternative uses for coconut oil that are sure to wow you.
Coconut Oil Is Awesome For Your Skin
While this isn’t the only use, it’s one of the best.
Just took a shower?
Seal in the moisture with coconut oil.
Dry air making your skin crack?
Apply coconut oil to protect your skin.
If you need to moisturize, then look no further than coconut oil. Now you may be wondering, “why coconut oil over other moisturizers?” The big reason is that it’s 100% natural. You can put it on your skin without having to worry about sneaky chemicals and weird substances that you’d have to worry about with a man-made moisturizer. Coconut oil is all you need!
Coconut oil Lip Balm
This is a really good one that is often overlooked and deserves its own part of the list. Coconut oil makes an awesome, discrete lip balm. One of the most annoying things about lip balms is that you can feel them on your lips. It’s like having a layer of wax there and it can be annoying. Coconut oil is superior because you don’t even feel it. The only thing you feel is that your lips aren’t cracking and feel comfortable. Try it out. We doubt you’ll be disappointed.
Coconut Oil Deodorant
This is a cool little recipe we came up with that I think works well when you’re in a pinch after running out of deodorant. Take a quarter-sized bit of coconut oil and mix it with some baking soda. It may not look like a lot but it spreads. If you use too much your shirts will look stained. We recommend wearing a shirt under your main shirt just in case. Either way, you’ll be scentless all day.
Coconut Facial Cleanser
This one is pretty simple, but definitely not a bad idea. The problem that often comes with facial cleansers is that the alcohol in them dries your skin out, but the strength is that they’re antibacterial and antifungal. Coconut oil has these same properties without the alcohol, so it can kill germs and cleanse your pores while still keeping you moisturized. It’s definitely worth a try sometime.
If you run out of toothpaste, you can take a little bit of coconut oil and combine it with some baking soda and brush your teeth. It’ll help whiten your teeth and keep you clean until you get more toothpaste.
Coconut Oil Shaving Cream
This is probably one of the simpler uses for coconut oil but also probably one of the best. Apply a thin layer to your skin and then shave away. It’s that simple. What’s great about coconut oil as a shaving cream is that it automatically leaves your skin feeling smooth, so you don’t have to worry about after shave creams.
Coconut oil is a pretty awesome oil. There are many other oils out there that you can use for a number of things. You can check out this article on essential oils and see what other oils are out there. Either way, we hope you get to try out some of the coconut oil hacks we posted here.
